New introduction document for suppliers on how to do business with Trafikverket
A new introduction document (Working with Trafikverket), issued in November 2024, describes procedures and contract forms used by the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) when procuring contracts and design assignments.

The introduction also gives international bidders an idea of the soft parameters and cultural characteristics that may be relevant when working with Trafikverket. The document can help calibrate expectations before entering into a complex business relationship, and serves as a good starting point when entering the Swedish market.

The Swedish Transport Administration purchases road vehicle detection data as a service
In December we have issued an RFI regarding the possibility to purchase road vehicle detection data as a service from measuring sites on roads with high traffic volumes (locations with an AADT over 8000 where currently deployed detection equipment comes up short) instead of buying the detection equipment. The purpose is to give the market the opportunity to come up with more effective and flexible solutions without technical restraints set by us.

The initial scope is approximately 100 measuring sites and the time frame for commissioning is planned for 2025 - 2026. The data must at least cover flow and VBV (vehicle by vehicle) and the measurement cycle should be at least 10 days spread throughout the year.

Health requirements for traffic safety functions on the railway
We are making some formal changes regarding health requirements starting January 1, 2025, for those working in electrical and traffic safety functions where the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) is the infrastructure manager. The change applies to personnel with traffic safety functions covered by TDOK 2014:0230, the Swedish Transport Administration's competence requirements for access and traffic safety functions.

The rules for health requirements remain unchanged. However, the handling of special assessments/exemptions is being modified and the form for health examinations will become common with those used by train operators.
